The Ministry of tourism gave promotional materials to the municipality of Paracho, where the 40th edition of the Paracho Guitar Fair will be held next month, August 3 – 11, 2013. It is estimated that at least 80,000 visitors will arrive for the event, given that the event has been promoted in the surrounding states.

Heriberto Magaña Huerta, delegate of the ministry of tourism, reported that the Guitar fair in Parachos is one of the most representative events in the state and generates very important economic benefits, both for the craft sector and tourist services providers.

He said that along with the guitar festival, the International Festival of Globos de Cantoya will also be held and serve as a showcase for the promotion of gastronomy and sports activities.

In support of the event, the delegation of tourism provided promotional materials, mainly pamphlets including the tourist map of the State, regional tourist guides, magazines and promotional posters.

He explained that in Paracho there are more than 400 luthiers (guitar makers) and 15 factories where it is possible to purchase guitars from 800 pesos up to 50 thousand pesos. Visitors can meet the luthiers and watch the guitars being made, and see exhibits about Paracho´s most famous handicraft. In addition, they will have the opportunity to attend concerts, competitions of music, dance, exhibitions, popular events and even master classes.

The state delegate said he hopes that visitors to this famous guitar town nestled in the Purépecha plateau, will visit other notable attractions nearby, including la Perta del Cupatitzio, and since this event is an important attraction, he hopes it will be a showcase to promote tourism in the entire region
