A short article appeared about Bob (Or boB if you spell his name backwards), Zihuatanejo’s real one-winged pelican, in the December issue of Another Day in Paradise. Since then, we haven’t seen nor heard anything of him! Maybe that’s because everyone’s been looking for him in the wrong places…

Fortunately, though, the situation could be changing. On a couple of recent occasions, we’ve had some unsubstantiated but thoroughly thought-provoking sightings of a pelican that just could be Bob. The thing is, he hasn’t been just hanging around the pier in Zihua. Certainly not! If these sightings are really Bob sightings, then our fellow has been gadding about up and down the coast. Here’s what we’ve found out….

Above is a photo, with inset, of what we believe may be Bob near the pier, yes, but it’s the pier that takes visitors to Ixtapa Island! It looks here as though Bob (if in fact it is he) might be doing a good deed to one of his compadres and offering himself as a springboard. This sighting was made on Jan. 30th.

And here is yet another possible Bob…. but this time to the south of Zihua, near Petatlan, on Feb. 6. It certainly is a much more peaceful atmosphere than the Ixtapa Island pier, and Bob (if in fact it is he) seems to be enjoying the conversation with his pal…

If anyone has any proof as to whether these are REAL Bob sightings, please send us the evidence. We of course are aware the the above photos do not show clearly whether these birds are one or two-winged…
