Perched on the side of the hill with sweeping views of Playa La Ropa you will find the very secret La Quinta Troppo. This small tropical hotel of eight rooms has just opened their private doors to the public, offering dinner six days a week on their candle lit terrace.
La Quinta Troppo is the baby of two expatriate antipodeans who have discovered the good life here in Zihuatanejo and turned their winter home into a small and luxurious bed and breakfast. Before now only guests have had the privilege of enjoying their gourmet, set price dinners.
The menu is a set three courses, changing daily for nine days. You will notice a subtle Asian influence in the food as well as quirky twists on classic dishes. For example, the beef medallions served with a chiplotle and tamarindo sauce is wonderful. Try the mahogany duck with a lemon grass and orange sauce or tuna crusted with black sesame seeds as main courses on different evenings. This is followed by a wicked dessert, such as the coconut and rum flan over fresh pineapple. Don’t forget to look at probably one of the best wine lists in town and to really enjoy yourself (and to set the mood) start with one of their great margaritas.
La Quinta Troppo is open every night except Wednesdays and is only available with a reservation, call 554 3423. The aim is to keep the evenings intimate.
Get set for a tasteful Mexican experience.
Buen Provecho.
