The state secretary of tourism, Javier Aluni Montes, acknowledged that the current summer holiday season has brought fewer tourists than last year.

He said: “The number of tourists do not yet cover the expectations of SEFOTUR, we believe that we are going to recover this week, the idea is to improve the occupation that was had the previous year, this is the goal, but presently we have not achieved it, we are half a point below.”

This weekend is the midpoint of the summer holidays…Yesterday Ixtapa closed with 83 percent occupancy; Acapulco closed with 78 percent.
